Back we go - bow forward!

After a lovely sojourn we leave Llangollen

llangollen basinLlangollen Basin - more boats arrive at the weekends!

We left the basin in a stiff breeze but the canal was quiet and we did not meet many narrowboats on our way downstream. The "narrows" were both clear and I stayed on Epiphany rather than walking them! They are both rather beautiful in separate ways.

Travelling downstream means a slightly quicker journey and it seem no time before we were at Trevor and turning onto the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. We were forutnate with the weather again and had some glorious views.

For those of you NOT of a nervous disposition the following photos show the narrrow iron trough edge that is all that is between the boat and disaster! The last one shows what holds it all up high in the sky.

This duck certainly was enjoying the view and played "chicken" with us, he flew off just as the bow reached him

Chirk was next, first the tunnel and then the aqueduct which, as well as being shorter and less high than the Pontcysyllte, feels more substantial!

Once across we were back in England and moored in the same place as we had on the way up just beyond Monks Bridge 21 on Chirk Bank. We had caught up with narrowboat Lazy Days again! A couple of hire boats joined us for the night too.
