Nostalgic Goodbyes

Today had a sad tinge to it - it was Lois' last day and also we would probably not be back this way again for quite a while.

It became even more sad when I blogged, forgot to save it and then pressed the wrong button - hey presto lost, unrecoverable blog. Time wasted - half an hour or more trying to recover it! Started again and then couldn't find the energy or desire to faff around any more, so saved the above first sentence in defiance and closed down the Infernal Machine.

A very heavy cold does not a patient Fi make - it makes me a patient, called Grumpy Fi

More grumps - T'internet is ........  slow this evening.

Anyway we had a very pleasant journey back to Pewsey despite the tug on the heart strings as we saw familiar sights to mentally say goodbye to. Honey Street and The Barge Inn, Lady';s Bridge moorings with boats owned by canal friends, Wide Water the K & As own Tixall Wide (on the Staffs and Worcs, a well known and loved mooring).

We passed nb Lark Rise going the opposite way - Hi Baz and Lynne, glad to hear you still read my ramblings! We managed to get a photo, see the gallery.

The harvest is being gathered - farmers literally making hay whilst the sun shone, contrary to the weather forecasters rhetoric.

The canal vegetation is very abundant - BW's "set aside" policy?

Aren't I being good, I have learnt my lesson the hard way!

We stopped just after Wilcot bridge, moored and walked the short way to the Golden Swan for Sunday lunch.

Again to be recommended, the Landlord is very hospitable, apparently the 6X is very good, and the food was tasty.

We then made our way to Pewsey Wharf to drop Lois off, say goodbye and wish her a good journey home. After getting water and doing the necessary with the cassette we continued to Milkhouse water winding hole, winded and arrived back at out mooring for an evening of failed blogging, reading and feeling sorry for myself! An early night, a morning at work and an afternoon off sick and I am beginning to recover.

I have again included a few thumbnails but the decent photos are on the third page of the August gallery.
