Crofton to All Cannings

 12.04 miles, 5h 37m, Locks 4, Bridges 24 Average speed 2.85 lock/mph

We woke this morning to an overcast sky, a list to starboard still and a very quiet canal. By the time we had had breakfast, the sun was beginning to shine. So where was the promised rain? The weather forecasters had done it again - not doom and gloom, but bright and light! How I wish 1987 had never happened then maybe we would get more positive weather forecasts.

We set off just before midday, it was great to be level again! When we got to Brimslade lock 53 we paired up with nb Still Waters who had been asked by the BW man to wait as there were problems with the pumps at Devizes locks - as if we hadn't realised. A list to prove it! We shared another lock before they moored up for the day.

At Wootton Rivers bottom lock there were some vintage cars crossing the road bridge - some sort of rally we supposed.

We passed our friends at Pewsey Wharf  - "see you all tomorrow". We took on a splash of diesel at George's at Honey Street (98p).  We finally moored at All Cannings on the 48 hour moorings. It was a bit windy and we had had one shower on our journey so "huh" to the forecast of lots of rain!

Some more photos are now on our gallery.
