This should identify it as still on the Thames -
a rather nice boat house by the lock.

Whilst you are thinking about it......

As we sat and watched the boats go through we sheltered under a large spreading chestnut tree. Most of the boats were what we call "noddy boats" or as I have heard them called by others "tupperware boats". Although years ago we hired this type of boat on both the Thames and the Broads we are definite narrowboaters and prefer the steel hull and lines of a narrowboat. That is not to say that we don't admire some of the more expensive of these boats that you see at boat shows - but as I can't stand gin we have no need of a "gin palace!

Is this regulation issue for Thames lock keepers? Is he really bored or did he oversleep!

Goring Lock
 

I remembered this lock well as we moored here when we hired Silver Swan from Anglo Welsh in 1999. We ate in the John Barleycorn, a really olde worlde pub in the village. So as the moorings here are free this is a stop we will be making again in September. I wonder if we can persuade our crew from then back again for the experience. How about it? Did you two recognise it?
