Fooled you!

We have a new view on the BCN!

View from Oozells Loop

We figured that the ice has really gone now in the centre of Birmingham, so we decided that we had no excuse to stay at Cambrian Wharf any more. Also, we did not want a patrol notice and one or two boats near us had been issued with them in the last couple of days. So this morning we fitted the tiller and flag, untied the ropes, and set off.

However - as you can see from the photo we have not moved too far, although it was really good to feel that we have made a bit of progress towards a bit of exploring. The observant of you, or those that know the canals in the centre of Birmingham, will realise that we are moored at Brindleyplace moorings in the Oozells Street Loop. The view from the bows is of the footbridge over the loop (first bridge) and then the footbridge at Old Turn Junction.

These are the steps on the opposite side towpath. They lead on to the towpath on the Main Line. You can also see the back of the NIA and carpark on the otherside of the Birmingham Main Line.

The view makes a lovely change from the side of another narrowboat, which is the view one gets when moored on pontoons. We both remarked today that it was good to be "out", by which we meant, on the cut, as opposed to side by side mooring.

This is the corner of the Loop and the Main Line with the beginning of the "posh flats" that are between the junction and St Vincent Street Road Bridge.

So what did we do for the rest of the day? We sampled Birmingham's buses and went to see my brother and sister-in-law. The buses arrived and went as expected and we had a lovely cuppa and a chat before returning home via Tesco. (and watched Countdown! ed.)
