Gas Street Blues?

Actually there are a couple of "funnies" too

This is a photo blog - for all those fans of my photos - ha ha! They were all taken in Gas Street Basin - the meeting of two canals.

I walked towards the Old Wharf area on the NE of the basin and took this from the towpath bridge over the remains of an old arm there

Here is the entrance to the Old Wharf, blocked off by Bridge Street, nicely thawing; compare it to last week! There are 24 hour moorings here and a water Bus stop.

This amused me - once again we have a pastiche of the old BCN mile post in metres, sited this time at the entrance to Old Wharf, in-filled in 1931. I noticed that it was shorter to walk back to Cambrian Wharf via the towpath than by the road.

mile postAt least I can't get lost

James Brindley would have wondered what all this was about. The old BCN Paradise Street Company offices, demolished in 1913,would have looked out of place methinks!

barrelHmm ... I wonder how fresh the contents of this barrel are now

The writing says "This Weeks Special" and underneath "Freshly made in our kitchen dailey!" (sic)

I think this view of the chimneys on the old BCN buildings, with the in-construction "Cube" by the Mail Box, just about sums Birmingham up! The light bulbs and the line of pigeons just complete the picture.
