Travels with a GOM!

We have been so lucky with the weather

For the last week we have cruised in dry weather and really enjoyed the Southern section of the Staffs and Worcs Canal. Today was only spoilt by one thing.

We have noticed a prevalance of thesefishery notice

The GOM on Epiphany made it it his mission to spot everyone we passed today - and photograph nearly all of them. I jest of course, but it did seem to be a little over the top to have 7 notices on the bend before Dursley Tunnel. 3 on the off side, 3 on the bank plus an old one that has been there for many years.

Imagine what he said when we saw these at Hyde Lock.

Do anglers really fish in locks? Right at the bottom of locks or just above - yes!

Now this is my final word on the subject - are they really necessary, are anglers not aware of overhead lines, are these notices a result of an "elfin safety" knee jerk after an accident or just an "elfin safety" jerk???? (And how much did this "load of bollards" cost? GOM-ed.)

I promised to blog about this to "shut John up" for the rest of the journey! However I do think they rather "stick out" in an otherwise beautiful canal.
