Stuck?

You may have gathered by now that we are not cruising at the moment

Was this by the tone of my blog changing, no new photos, no mileage stats or the dead give away  - eyes right! Or maybe you hadn't noticed that our location hasn't changed!

So what to blog about today?

What do they call it, oh yes, writers block! Apart from the weather, the state of the canals, the view, reminiscing  and ranting, what else is left! With no inspiration, maybe I had better "shut up".

Some say my "talent", such as it is, is photography. But I am just a "point and shoot person" really. So I think I will just let you have a look at a few photos that I am proud of and leave you to judge. My apologies if you have see them before.

On the animal theme, apart from cows, sheep, deer, cats, etc I think I must choose this one of Bosun, a real "canal dog" who lives on Gosty Hill fuel boat with Ian and Alison.

Flowers are a more difficult choice - should it be a cultivated one or a wild one? To carry on the canal theme it has to be a wild one, I think.

I suppose I cannot leave out birds as they are so much part of the canals. Be they water birds, those from the hawk family who delight us as they hover over the fields, common species such as blackbirds (what a beautiful song they have) and chaffinches, or the King of them all the Kingfisher.

Oooh this is hard, it has to be this cygnet for the ahh factor!cygnet

One more for today - I think it had better be a landscape and one from this year from our travels "up North". Perhaps this is one that the majority of narrowboaters never see as it is a) a river, b) an unusually fine day and c) a "booked crossing". Guessed?

The River Douglas

The River Douglas, part of the Ribble Link to the Lancaster Canal - I wonder if we will ever again see it like this?
