Marsworth - for boaters?

The latest idea for Marsworth

The old BW yard at Marsworth on the Grand Union Canal looks rather a mess and the sani-station has seen better days.

This makes it look almost attractive!Marsworth Yard

Can it be tidied up? - maybe, but it seems (to BW) that it is a better idea to knock it down and build an estate of 14 houses - raise a bit of cash at the same time too!

It is in a Conservation Area and the idea does not sit very well with the latest talks and agreed guidance with English Heritage. (See BW Website)

There appears to have been no consultation with the locals or boaters. Click here and here to see the proposals on Aylesbury Vale District Council's site. If you feel strongly about it and have a comment - submit it before tomorrow's deadline!

When we passed last October, we stopped at the sani-station before descending the Aylesbury Arm.

Whilst we were on the Aylesbury Arm we had our first snow of the winter - at the end of October.

Hmm - I would rather have the snow than all this rain. I wonder if the thought of living on a boat has occurred to more people as a result - "รก la Noah" - without the animals, of course!
