Lots to see

In only a short journey

So we left Norbury Junction behind and ticked through the moorings after Norbury Bridge (38) - both visitor and long term moorings and then we were "free"!

This BW mooring sign has mixed messagesmooring sign

At the bottom it says "designated winter moorings payment required". I am a little confused - are they 48 hour moorings and winter moorings at the same time? If they are designated winter moorings does that mean that if there is a vacant space you can moor for 24 hours? Or will you get charged after 48 hours or even for mooring there at all?

Maybe it is an example of something that we find a little irritating - winter moorings that take over ALL visitor moorings in one particular place. Prime examples of this are Little Venice and Camden visitor moorings. Sorry, I didn't mean to subject you to another rant so soon!

This was the nearest we got to a church on Sunday - we had to move from Gnosall or be accused of "overstaying" on 48 hour moorings - but we enjoyed God's Outdoor Cathedral!

The canal closed in with trees after this, we were following another boat who had pulled out at Norbury Junction but we stayed right back.

After Double Culvert Bridge, we entered Grub Street Cutting: not as deep as some but still lined with trees. There are boats moored here that I have dubbed "The Grub Street Gang". They have been moored here for at least the last 8 years! The mooring is slightly redeemed as sometimes there are interesting vehicles there. Today was no exception.

Can anyone tell me the make of this classic car?car

(Could it be a Bentley- anyone know the model? ed:John)

We decided to moor just before Anchor Bridge (42) - out of the trees so we could have a TV signal. Unfortunately the pub here was closed. The Anchor is a really small unspoilt pub which serves Wadworths 6X Beer (brewed at Devizes on the Kennet and Avon) from the cask, which is the attraction for John!
