Nearly finished with locks - for a while

Up and along - nearly at the summit!

We left Church Lawton in the sunshine and had the Red Bull Flight of 6 lock ahead of us. The last of the 'up' locks on the Trent and Mersey canal for us!

It was a single lock and caused a bit of a hold up as there were a number of boats on the move now. Those going down had the Cheshire Locks to look forward to.

We waited on the wharf; there are services here, but we only disposed of our rubbish. There are two cranes on the wharf too.

Limekiln Lock (42) is the penultimate lock and is located in a picturesque area, with plenty to photograph!

The Macclesfield Canal crosses the Trent and Mersey here on Poole Aqueduct and looking back from the lock I was wishing that we had chosen that route - but it is something to look forward to. We did the right thing to stick with Gypsy Rover and Derek and Dot, as they have been a great help.

I love this stone bench after the Locksstone bench

We stopped before Lock 41 to re-provision at Tesco, five minutes walk away. It was a pleasant mooring, but we had to move on as we had Harecastle Tunnel to get through before the day was over. But even before that we had to put the new stores away and have lunch....

Trent and Mersey Canal, Church Lawton to Hardings Wood Bridge - 1 hour 49 minutes, 1.30 miles, 5 locks
