That was a quick holiday!

Yes folks - we are back on Epiphany on the Calder and Hebble

Yesterdays blog was the last of my "forward blogs" and now we are in "real time" again. We had a fabulous time away in Spain, but came back down to earth with a bump (we landed OK at the airport though! - more about the holiday later) when we opened Epiphany up. She was now alongside the mooring not on the outside. We knew she was to be moved, as the boat alongside us when we arrived was going out after we left.

John had specifically asked them to make sure that the shore power was plugged in again because of the fridge and freezer, once they moved Epiphany - they assured us that they "knew all about that". Hmm ... now why was our freezer defrosted, the batteries FLAT and the fridge warm? The air was "blue" and a bit smelly - they had not plugged in the cable properly so the boat had not been hooked up for nearly 2 weeks. I repeat, the air was BLUE.

So I threw away over £30 worth of frozen food, some things in the fridge and just hope that it stayed cool enough for my insulin. Of course, the contents insurance would have covered the food, except it would be less than the excess, and batteries are specifically excluded; so if the domestic batteries are dud, having been run down completely, we face a hefty bill - we will have to see what happens after 2 days of shore power.

Not the fault of the South Pennine Boat Club, but not a good welcome home for us.

Stand by for some Spanish sun memories to cheer us up!
