Steam train journey into the Dales

Continuing on travelling on the Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway - we were moored on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal

Catching the train from Ingrow West station, we carried on to the end of the line at Oxenhope.

Damens Station is the smallest station in Britain. It featured in the TV programme "Born and Bred", renamed "Ormston". The platform is one coach long and is a "request stop".

We passed through Oakworth where the station is restored to it 1905 condition. It was used in the 1970 version of the "Railway Children", together with the tunnel. Mytholmes Tunnel was the scene of "The Landslip" and "Paperchase".

Haworth was the next stop but we will come back to that later!

We arrived at the terminus of the line at Oxenhope where there is an exhibition shed. The passengers milled around taking photos just like we did!

We visited the exhibition shed where once again we were treated to beautifully restored rolling stock and locos: all of which are in working order and run on the line.

At this point my camera card was full and I had forgotten to bring an extra so John continued snapping on his mobile phone!

We made our way back to the station to catch the train back to Howarth. Haworth station is in its original form and the footbridge links the station to the bottom of Haworth village.

Haworth has a very special place in literary history and so as a veracious reader it was a "must do" before we left Yorkshire!

It deserves a blog of its own though!
