Leaving Skipton - by various means

Last thoughts before we leave Skipton

Skipton, on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, has been great - we visited places by bus and train. We were moored just after the station and very near bus stops. There is lots to do and see in the town too, as you will know, if you have been following my blogs!

Our journey to Bolton Abbey via bus, steam train and heritage bus will have to wait to be told. The photos are the ones I am unable to download from the camera card until the camera comes back repaired. Yes we could buy a card adaptor for my LT - but I am loath to spend out when I will probably not use it more that once!

We took a jaunt to Grassington (a Victorian village in the Yorkshire Dales) by bus, too - I will put some photos up of that in the next few days, perhaps!

Yesterday we went to Lancaster; there is a direct line from Skipton to Lancaster. The line goes north through along the border between Yorkshire and Lancashire, turning south to Carnforth and Lancaster and on to Morecambe. It travels through some lovely scenery, so the hour or so is well spent enjoying the countryside!

We met up with Gill and Geoff (nb Petroc, great photos!) who are on the Lancaster Canal (our photos from the Lanky!) and moored in Lancaster. Picking up Craig on the way, we found them on the mooring we had on our way back, when we were on the Lanky!

Gill provided us with coffee and then we all repaired to the Water Witch for a really nice lunch and a good natter!

We spent the afternoon with "number one son" - measuring up his new flat - and then sadly said goodbye to him and Lancaster yet again!

We have a really on/off internet signal at the moment, so I am giving up and today's journey will have to wait. Sorry!
