Around the bend we go

The Leeds and Liverpool takes a loop to Church

We took a very short journey - not all the way to Church though. Yes, this is "Sunday" blog so I have to mention Church! Actually I am punning here but you would never know! Patience, I will explain, eventually!

On we went our separate ways - I stayed on the boat, cooking, giving Epiphany a shampoo and generally keeping myself well occupied! John went gallivanting with Rich - they tell me they went to a BW consultation meeting at Ellesmere Port! It is the "Twenty Twenty" thing again. This time NABO was there in force represented by the Secretary (Rich) and the Continuous Cruiser Rep (John). It sounds as if the same things were said as at the meeting I went to on the Lanky.

On a completely different subject -

John keeps finding "old friends" - I suppose social networking sites do have some purpose! He found Vivien - some one he knew from Uni who has boat (with her husband) just up the cut from Rishton - where we were overnight!

They suggested we meet at bridge 109 - New Barn Bridge. So on Saturday afternoon we took a very short cruise to a really lovely mooring. The sun was blazing out of a blue sky.

So we left Rishton mooringsrishton

In the distance we could see the M56 - and more impressive the moorlands beyondview

This type of user was not represented at the BW consultation, but needs to becyclist

We crossed the M65 on a long aqueduct (108AA)aqeuduct

John had been on it a few hours ago!M65

We arrived at Bridge 109, there is room for two or three boats this side of the bridgebridge 109

What a fabulous mooringmooring

The canal does a loop to Church Kirk and Church and the view across the valley is wonderfulview

We can walk from here to the Sunday service rather than mooring in Church. The mooring in Church is not so nice and was the one place we had a scary experience in 2001. Joy riders decided to jump from a car in the lane by the mooring. Fortunately the car rammed the wall and stopped but we were all ready to have a car take a piggy back on the roof!

I thought John was having a "mecca" experience herejohn on knees

My second thought was that I had finally driven him to his knees! I realised then that he was facing west (that's that theory out the porthole!) and trying to secure two mooring stakes with a padlock, upside down?

So we had a good time with Vivien and Keith and once they went we enjoyed the sun, swans, views and the feeling of isolation - bliss!

Rishton to New Barn Bridge - 29 minutes, 0.7 miles, 0 locks
