Unable to resist temptation - Glory Be!

It is so long since we have been to the sea-side. That seems strange to some, as we used to live by the sea! We also used to work in the "sea-side" trade many moons ago!

Now, Morecambe is not Cornwall! There are no waves to speak of, no thundering Atlantic rollers, no smell of sharp ozone in the air and no smell of pasties as you walk past cafe doorways!

What it does have however is Ice Cream Parlours. Now that is pure nostalgia! That was OUR sea-side trade. As we walked past the shops looking for a café, our senses were assaulted with a familiar smell and sight - ice cream machines, the smell of wafers and the sight of an Italian sounding name.

Ice cream made by Italians is something special and we were lucky enough to be given the "secret recipe" for our own ice cream that we made in "Bonita Ice Cream Parlour and Coffee Lounge" back in the 1970s.

So could we resist our instincts to "home in" on Bruccianis? Of course not - especially as it seems that it has been an haunt for many of Morecambe's famous visitors over the years!

Bruccianis continues the Art Deco theme of the 1930s and their icecream has won awards from the Ice Cream Alliance over many years. BBC Lancashire have a video which explains more.

So back to temptation - how could we resist!Knickerbockers

Verdict (for those of you who are in the know) "Not as good as ours were"! Reason (for Pete's benefit), fruit cocktail instead of individual fruits, raspberry sauce instead of strawberry, no strawberry ice cream and no cherry on top! Finally the Knickerbocker Glories were certainly not made in 57 seconds for each one!

But ....... absolute YUM!
