Off the "beaten" Line - photos!

Photos of the Capernwray Arm - really a lovely mooring

The Capernwray Arm lived up to our expectations. It is lovely and quiet, and this morning in the sun it was gorgeous! Whilst John did a bit of blacking I went for a wander to the end.

I walked up the slight slope and was rewarded with a lovely view from the top of the quarry. There is no remains of the quarrying, just a deep pit and the Pool and Arm.

I could hear John closing the stern deck cover and took that as a sign that he had finished! I slowly wandered back, enjoying the leaves overhead, the sun peeking through and the bird song.

There was a chap from the caravan site and I stopped to chat. He pointed out the woodpecker tree but all seemed very quiet. John came and joined us - just in time to see the woodpecker fly to the tree and the nest that must be there!

He took over the camera and got this shot from a distance!woodpecker

Claiming my camera back I am proud to have this shot of the Pool for posterity!Pike pool

Casting off, we set off for Hest Bank.
