Carnforth moorings

Moored at Carnforth

Carnforth is pronounced "Carnfirth" hereabouts!

We have been here for a couple of days now. The moorings have been choka block, but this afternoon boats have moved off. I think they waited until the rain passed! They have all been going north towards Capernwray and Tewitfield so maybe it will be busy up there now!

Opposite us, as you can see, there are plenty of small cruisers, moored on Nu-Way Acorn Marina Moorings. There are more boats in the marina too.

The name of the blue cruiser has significance - friends and family will agree! It was the name of our Ice Cream Parlour and Coffee Lounge in Newquay in the 1970s. Now doesn't that sound like a civilised place to "hang out!. It is now a bistro type restaurant and much changed.

John can still make a knickerbocker glory in record time given the right ingredients and implements! Sorry folks, we do not have the requisites on Epiphany - in particular our own ice cream made to a special secret recipe! My favourite was ice cream on one of our home-made ring doughnuts covered with chocolate sauce - yum. My mouth is watering at the thought.

We are not sure when we will move as we can “do” some sightseeing easily from here using train and bus. There is so much to see and do on and from the Lancaster Canal that we are wishing we had booked for a later return crossing!

I quite fancy the rail trip up to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway - maybe our Monday trip! It looks as if the weather is going to cheer up then. Last night we were down to 7 degrees and I lit the fire this afternoon! Since when, of course, the sun has peeked out. There is still a bit of a breeeze though.
