What does the Runcorn Arm look like?

The Runcorn Arm, off the Bridgewater Canal Main Line is worth a visit - do not be put off by the stories of problems. One person's problem is another's opportunity!

The Junction looks rather unimpressive thoughRuncorn Arm Junction

It gets better -

Runcorn Town Park borders the canal with woods and pondsRuncorn Park

The turnover bridges are rather attractiveAstmore Bridge

Most of the off side is woods and scrub land until the outskirts of Runcorn are reached

Sprinch Arm has been turned into a dry dock and boat clubSprinch Arm dry dock

We moored securely, at the end, the old locks started after Waterloo BridgeMoored at Waterloo Bridge

The landmark Runcorn Bridge and impressive railway bridgeRuncorn Bridges over MSC and Mersey

We could see the Runcorn Bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal from Ellesmere Port Waterways Museum. That all seems a long way away now!

Perhaps if the sun had not been shining the Runcorn Arm would be less interesting. However the town is really trying and we saw this mural by the canal.

Educating the youth of the town about the canal?Mural
