Gathering clouds over the glorious Weaver

Northwich to Devil's Garden, River Weaver - 8.45 miles, 3 hours 24 minutes, 2 locks

What a beautiful day! We saw some lovely skies although the clouds were a little suspect! The Cirrus clouds we saw can join up and may herald rain.

Even the factories around the Anderton Lift looked attractive in the light

However for the moment the sky was blue over Anderton

This sculpture is at the moorings before the Anderton Lift

The weir stream after Anderton takes the River Weaver off to the left and the "Navigation" continues as Barnton Cut.

Winnington Swing Bridge is at the beginning of Barton Cutting

The clouds were gathering!

Barnton Cut moorings look very pleasant

This end of Barnton Cutting on the Weaver reminded us of another river -

Just like the River Fal in Cornwall!

Saltersford Lock was ready for us and Nb Haversham and Epiphany went down in the large lock. The smaller one has been shut since 1976!

Note, even more clouds

The Lock Keeper told us that this lock is the busiest on the Weaver and was very friendly - as per usual on this waterway.

I am now going to leave you in suspense and ask, just like Question of Sport - "What Happened Next?"

To be continued .........
