Vanishing supermarkets in Middlewich

0 hours 4 minutes, 0.10 miles, 0 locks

The above is not a typo! We have moved today! There was a change of plan and our Webasto is to be serviced on Sunday so we decided to stay above the junction with the Trent and Mersey until then.

John had inspected the moorings beyond the bridge (29)  - known as Long Lane bridge! He reckoned that we would get a TV signal, so it was worth moving there, if we were staying!

Consequently we have had our shortest cruise ever. It was almost worth bow hauling the boat, but we didn't. The signal is very good.

After lunch we set out to find the local Somerfield supermarket, only a 10 minute walk from the canal. Only it wasn't Somerfield, it has become Tesco and is not open for another week.

We then carried on into the high street to see if we could find anything else. Turning left we found a butcher, a baker and a candlestick maker (disguised as a florist!). A little further on is Lidl, so we managed to buy most things there.

Walking back we took the long way round by mistake, but we found the church and a Tesco Express. Hauling our haul back to Epiphany we were glad to flop for the rest of the afternoon!
