A Boatwoman's job is never done!

Still moored at Calveley

Sunset last night

A duck and  Canada goose enjoy the sunset too

A day of rest - no fear, jobs to do!

This is a busy place; boats have been passing regularly all day. Some of the Historic and Working boats are returning from Ellesmere. One passed very late last night and some have raced by, obviously in a hurry for some reason. One, which shall remain namelesst actually made us tip from side to side even though we have springs on the bank.

For our non-boating readers - a spring is another mooring rope at an angle to the usual one from the bow or stern. This stops the boat moving backwards and forwards as other boats pass. At least that is the theory!

Rain was threatened today, so I made the most of the fine morning to wash down the starboard side of Epiphany. This included the cratch cover and the gunnels! Like most cratch covers after a couple of years, ours was looking a little green at the seams and muddy where it had been caught on lock sides and gates etc.

John had already scrubbed it down once, but it needed another one. We use the boat wash/shampoo to do this and with a little elbow grease the result is pretty good.

Boy, was I ready for my lunch! It tried to rain but after a few spots, gave up. So I finished off outside and collapsed with a book!

Mountbatten and Jellicoe have just moored up in front of us. I admired Ivor's skill as he brought in the breasted-up motor and butty without a hitch.

Well, I am cooking tonight so I guess it is time to wrap this up! I hear that tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day of the year yet. We will see - we will move on to the Middlewich Arm tomorrow sometime.

Darkness falls on Calveley
