Still at Nantwich, but not by choice!

Have you ever had one of "those days"? We have just had two!

Day 1

Yesterday we went to explore Nantwich, an old Salt production town, and to do a bit of shopping. The town centre is a little walk away but going in the old way (and not via the bypass) is more interesting as there are a number of historic buildings on the way. There are over 100 listed buildings in Nantwich.

It felt and was very summery, I love blossom time

St Mary's Parish Church is huge and follows the red sandstone style of other local churches. It is undergoing some building work but is still stunning inside.

The stained glass windows are some of the loveliest we have seen

The altar was carved in the reign of Good Queen Bess. The reredos and choir has some of the oldest medieval carving in the country.

Our day started to go downhill when I spotted a mobile phone shop! We have had such trouble with Vodaphone billing services and have a high mobile broadband usage that we were considering having another service provider too. We had settled on 3 as it seemed a good deal.

We spent 2 hours in the phones4u shop trying to buy the 3 package, but their tills kept "going down". In the end I went to get some lunch for us both. How many of you have had a picnic in a mobile phone shop? The staff were as helpful as they could be and in the end we were all laughing at the absurdity of the situation.

Finally, clutching our purchase we continued shopping and exploring.

This crooked timbered shop took our eye too

Our evening was decidedly better as we joined the local folk club at the Oddfellows, along with Roger and Mirjana from Nb Maggie May. It was a really good evening and as John had repaired his guitar he was able to join in. He gave them a few renditions of his repertoire and all seemed to enjoy them! We learned a few new ones too!

So, tired and happier, we returned to the boat, thinking, tomorrow it is time to move!
