Mooring in Market Drayton, don't forget the gingerbread!

Market Drayton moorings are quiet and we overlook the school - I was watching football out of the porthole this morning!

John's blog on the New Liverpool canal has generated considerable interest! It certainly looks impressive, but practicalities such as booking a trip, ease of moorings, ease of passage are also a consideration. The Pennine Waterways website is a good informative site for anyone planning to visit.

We may very well explore it whilst we are "oop north". We shall be interested to hear from anyone who uses it, both positive and negative comments appreciated.

To change the subject completely, today has been a boat day: that is a non moving day spent on board! John spent half the morning trying to sort out a billing issue with Vodaphone. Internet usage is not available on their website and the software provided to monitor the use does not give an accurate figure. The actual figure is much higher so it pays to be conservative when relying on the software!

Perhaps that time spent on the phone was a blessing in disguise as it meant that he did not start the engine service until after lunch when the sun shone without the showers of the morning.

The oil filter change, new oil and fuel filter change done with supportive help from his right hand woman - he is now deservedly relaxing! I baked bread and a cake and have now joined him - laptops on lap time!

It is market day in Market Drayton tomorrow so reason to stay another day. I also must get some gingerbread. Sadly it is no longer made in Market Drayton.

The secret recipe has been taken to Yorkshire, but it is "shipped in" and still available in the town. It keeps for ages and if you like port it is a great "dunker". In the past we have bought a few packets to take home. This time I shall buy a few packets to keep at home, note the subtle change in words. As Continuous Cruisers "home is where your boat is".
