Hopwas, food and theatre

Friday night we ate at The Tame Otter. We met up with a fellow NABO (National Association of Boat Owners) Council member who was to give John a lift to the meeting on Saturday. We had a very good meal - it is good to see that the standard there is still as good as ever! It is obviously popular, as it was extremely busy and we were lucky to get a table.

Stopping at weekends means that there are jobs to do! As John was off the boat I had it to myself and cleaned inside from top to bottom. I am so glad we chose not to have carpets, as it is not until I sweep up that I realise how much dirt accumulates in just a couple of days!

With a carpet the dirt would gradually get ground in and vacuuming every day rather defeats the object of "retirement"! We have 'Amtico' laminate floors everywhere and it is literally a brush and wet wipe.

I also did a stew on the Morso - it cooks slowly and makes the meat so tender and is fuel efficient too. I was surprised at the number of boats that passed, going both ways. It was a sunny day with a stiff breeze so I suppose everyone was out cruising.

When John returned we had a quick meal and then caught the bus into Lichfield - about twenty minutes away. The bus stop is by The Tame Otter and goes into the bus station in Lichfield, just minutes walk away from the shops and theatre. We had booked to go to the Garrick Theatre there to see "Don't Look Now" a play based on a short story by Daphne du Maurier. We enjoyed it very much and were dutifully suspended and intrigued by the plot!

We caught the last bus back from Lichfield and, boy, were we glad to hit the sack once we got home! (Must be feeling our age - ed!)
