Post office services

"If you're travelling but want to stay in touch, you can take your letterbox with you. People can address mail to you and send it to any UK Post Officeâ„¢ and some main post offices in larger towns abroad. You can use the service for up to three months in any one UK town for any letters." - see the Royal Mail web site
Now does that, or does it not, imply that you can use any Post Office in the UK to receive your mail?
Apparently the branch at W H Smith in Coventry think they should be an exception and the Post Office agree. Someone used the service at Christmas, but took too long to collect the large parcels, so we all suffer.
I've sent in a formal complaint to the Royal Mail, the Post Office (yes, they are different companies) and W H Smith and written to our MP to see if the decision can be reversed.
What happened to good old fashioned service?
By the way, the Smith's branch only opened in May last year, when the main Crown Post Office closed: "

Post Office Ltd is marketing it as one of the most modern of its 14,000 branches nationwide and is confident customers who give it a try will be pleasantly surprised. Ian Rowley, WH Smith regional manager, said: "WHSmith and Post Office Ltd are both totally committed to ensuring customers get the best possible service at the new branch."
