Boats, dogs and cats

Braunston has been busy today! I could not make up my mind if the boats were passing to get to the waterpoint by the marina, using the marina entrance as a winding hole or whether they were unaware that the Braunston locks are closed. I suppose that as it has been a lovely sunny day some came out of the marina for a cruise! One or two definitely winded as they passed us again.

There was ice on the cut this morning and there was a bit of crunching as the first couple of boats went by. It soon disappeared in the sunshine.

One thing I did notice was the number of green boats that passed. Plain dark green or with green as their predominant colour. It made me glad that we had decided not to have another green boat! We have yet to see a boat with exactly the same coachwork paint as Epiphany. The same colours yes, but not the same arrangement or with coach lines separating the colours.

The number of walkers was also noticeable as they passed us on the towpath. Most of them had a dog or two attached to them! I was pleased to see that there were responsible owners with their "doggie bags". Though where they could put the full ones was a mystery as the doggie bins are all full. I like dogs that are well behaved, that means the owners are well behaved!

We are cat people though, and still wish we had one. I sometimes wish a stray would adopt us and then we would have no choice but to keep it! We both exclaim "cat" when we see one on a passing boat and make noises to attract its attention - daft!

One more day here probably, and then we move onto a new bit of canal.
