Health and Rescue

Final day below Calthorpe winding hole (we hope!)

Today was a medical day! We both had appointments at the GP surgery for MOT's. We were pronounced healthy, in fact well above the average health wise - for our age! Hmm, must be all the chemicals I take keeping me so!

Obviously, the active lifestyle and the lack of stress (?!) as liveaboards is paying off; I can certainly bring my BP down by imagining I am on Epiphany as the machine grabs my upper arm!

John also had an appointment at hospital for his hearing check up. He has found another expert in the field so is in the best hands! So we are now well checked over and ready for our cruising to begin again! We start going Northwards tomorrow - hopefully.

On the same theme, well almost, we had a lesson in ice rescue from the Fire Service when we were at Thrupp. The three firemen looked as if they were enjoying themselves, despite the cold.

Here we go Mate, lie still and flat and you will be OK

Heave Ho - into the boat we go

Hey, you guys, pull me out .... NOW

In the above photo you can just see me and the Thrupp Book Swap (all photos on our blog are clickable for a bigger image). See to the right of this blog for other Book Swaps. Please do let me know of anymore, particularly any in the Midlands and north of Birmingham. Thanks.

So the fun on the ice had a serious intent and we are fairly confident that Oxfordshire Fire Rescue could get us out of an icy hole. However that does depend on someone calling them in the first place and a pretty quick arrival before hypothermia takes over.
