Afloat again - just!

We are back on board but thoroughly iced in!

We arrived a Tooley's Boat Yard at about 945 this morning. Epiphany was floating in the dry dock and Matt (owner of Tooley's) and Martin were moving The Dancing Duck from their wharf to the opposite side by the museum.

They had kindly decided that we should moor inside Rosamund the Fair against Tooley's wharf. This would prevent the ice damaging Epiphany now she has been blacked. There was ice in the dock and the canal was completely iced over apart from a couple of patches where the sun was and also where there is a bit of wind through the buildings.

These swans had been frozen in overnight and were now enjoying their freedom!

Matt broke the ice as Epiphany was very slowly eased out of the dock and Rosamund was allowed to drift out making room for us. However the ice was so thick that she only drifted a little way. Matt had to climb on the gunnels and use the pole to smash the ice - not an easy job as it was thick.

We finally were able to moor, Matt broke the ice between the boats and Rosamund was tied up alongside.

Epiphany moored at Tooley's Wharf

However there is ice bow and stern

We are able to stay here until the canal thaws and the earliest that will happen looks like end of the the weekend! There could be worse places to be stuck.

We shopped in Morrison's to stock up and when we returned about 6pm some idiot has pushed a supermarket trolley onto the ice below the lift bridge. It is sitting right in the middle. Someone will need to get it before the thaw. If it's there tomorrow morning we will check the Supermarket name and let them know! It could be Tesco, Morrison's or even Sainsbury's - most likely Morrison's as that is nearest.

"The Tooley's Experience" photo album is now complete in our photo gallery. In it there are photos of the dock being filled to allow Nb The Vision to be floated out, Epiphany brought in, the dock drained and the blacking process.
