New Year Greetings to One and All

Happy New Year and a baggage free 2009

I heard a good sermon on Sunday! Now, I am not very good at remembering sermons! A good summary as to what a sermon could be is - "Stand up, Speak up and Shut up". However it is always an idea to remember at least one point from the sermon when the preacher has probably laboured hard and long over it.

Back to Sunday. My one remembered point, and here you may begin to get my point, is "Leave your baggage behind as you go into the New Year", or words to that effect. It gives me a mental picture of a back pack falling from one's shoulders, leaving a feeling of lightness behind!

It is a good maxim - a bit like starting the New Year "with a clean slate". The secret is, however, is not to go back to Lost Property to find your baggage again! Perhaps also it is a good idea not to pack a new bag?

So have a baggage free 2009 and we hope to see many of our readers, both on and off the Cut, in 2009.

I leave you with some pictures that put our ice on the Cut in proportion. I had a white Christmas of sorts in 2002. I will be interested if anyone can identify the locations. I know some you will definitely recognise them!

Just a little snow and ice on this river

This is more sensible transport
