Breaking News: narrowboats on the move

The natives are getting restless. The narrowboats moored at Cambrian Wharf are on the move!

It was time for water for a couple of them, one a visitor and one a permanent(?) resident .....

Sapphire broke ice this morning to get to the water point. He had two or threes goes at it but got there eventually. It was not long before our friend Dan followed! Had Sapphire waited another half hour he would have had some help.

Day Boat arrives

The day boat from the Away Group was the forerunner of the fuel boat, breaking more ice as she arrived. On board were the coal sacs for those that wanted them! We had ordered ours yesterday and John was helped with these by our kind friend, Dan. John's back is still a bit dicey.

Soon the fuel boat hove into view and began to refuel from the far end.

Then it was our turn - this completed the ice breaking job around us as he reversed back and them made for the pontoon next to us.

our turn

Here comes the fuel boat

So we will be able to break out now - via the water point. Yippee! - but we hear that there is ice still on parts of the Birmingham Canals so may not get far. However it will be good to get out of the centre and have a different view. Watch this space ......
