Snow, how boring.

So we all have snow as well as ice now. Birmingham got off lightly - only a dusting but enough to make things pretty around Cambrian Wharf above the Farmers Bridge Lock Flight on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.

As the day went on a thaw set in, making everything a wee bit slushy but the locks had some interesting features .......

So here is my snow pic -

As the snow melted this mornin,g this strange "alien" appeared - or was it where one had landed in the night? One of the ducks obviously came to have a look!

Black hole or amoeba?

We wandered down the Farmers Bridge Flight - it was slippery with the slush but where the cobbles had been "left" - I mean restored - the risers helped prevent us slipping. I blogged about the whole flight when we were stuck here (ice and snow again) in January 2010.

Now what is that pink thing? Somebody lost their umbrella in the windy conditions yesterday.

This was the view from Lock 2 to 3

We decided that as it was getting towards twilight we would only go as far as Saturday Bridge, below Lock 4.

We looked back up the flight from the bridge - it all looked rather bleak in the light.

The overflow at Lock 4 is an interesting shape - but a trap for litter

On our way back we had an interesting encounter with someone from "Occupy" Birmingham, but more of that tomorrow......
