A quick snapshot of our journey today

3 hours 39 minutes, 2.47 miles, 0 locks

It has been another lovely day - not so cold as yesterday but plenty of sun. I went mad with the camera, so I will be unable to show all the photos Tonight is only a quick overview and I will probably keep going for a few days on todays journey!

We shall be moored here in Paddington for a few days - visitors, appointments and outings. So I will have plenty to write about I hope.

I was rather taken with this "old bird" at the end of Perrivale moorings

Two other birds caught my eye too.

This Grebe looks as if he is swimming through fire but it was the reflection on the water from the autumn trees!

This one is for our friends who are off to sunny Spain in the next couple of days. We have flamingos in Acton, on the canal too!

Other "highlights" included golfers at Horsenden Hill and the North Circular aqueduct!

After passing through the industrialised part at Acton and its huge power station it was good to see a new wharf at Old Oak.

Kensal Green is an interesting area, the gas works, the famous cemetery and the old and new together in Harrow Road.

We reached Little Venice where all the moorings were taken up , visitor moorings and winter moorings. We managed to do a quick stop at the sanitary station by sitting in the bridge hole!

Then it was fork right into the cut that leads to Paddington Basin. We saw the BW information boat under Bishops Bridge and there was a mooring not long after so we slipped in, right by the station.

We wandered down to the basin and although there were plenty of boats moored (we assume the pontoons are winter moorings), there was one space left opposite. At the end of the row was nb Red and Gold - we saw them moored at Cowroast so they must have passed us! We first met them in March this year at Crofton on the K & A.

After a visit to the information boat and a chat to Jenna we moved on to the mooring in the basin.

More photos tomorrow!
