Our unfinished cruise and another mooring

Our mooring below Shirley Railway Bridge on the North Stratford canal was lovely. Open fields on our port side and a good towpath beside us

Moored up in a lovely place

The railway was far enough away not to bother us and we had some very nice neigbours ......

I was enjoying myself - John had gone for his little wander. He hoped to go into Birmingham to the Red Lion Folk Club. Vin Garbutt was playing there and John wanted to see what the moorings were like further up. They would be nearer for him to get to Shirley Station.

Time for a little reflection

John returned and because the mooring was so nice we tried to get a satellite signal for TV. After much too-ing and fro-ing - literally - we gave up and I said goodbye to the horses.

We continued towards Shirley Drawbridge (8) with plans to moor above it. Apparently there was plenty of room and we should get a TV signal!

Shirley Drawbridge ahead

I held up the traffic whilst I opened the bridge - with a BW key, much easier than a windlass!

So our mooring is now a little less pretty, near the Drawbridge Inn and road but so far quiet and with a TV signal! A short 2 hour cruise had become a 4 hour marathon with all the delays!
