Christmas means Muddy Waters on the South Oxford Canal

I said that something special was happening at Thrupp on the South Oxford Canal. Yesterday was the first of these "happenings", with more to come over the next few weekends. Muddy Waters (not literally you understand) is popular with children (and Mums and Dads too). The books fly off the shelves and my great nephew has been an avid reader since the first one. But today was about more than books.

This way to Muddy Waters

The sun shone for the special visitor and his helpers .....

Muddy Waters and Jolly live at Thrupp and their adventures take them all over the canal system with their narrowboat friends. Today they were entertaining some new and old friends. Santa and his elves were helping too along with all at Annies Tea Room.

Jolly

Here is Jolly - he was taking everyone for a cruise

Muddy Waters had Santa aboard, I understand he was in his grotto. The children came away from seeing him with a present and certainly seemed to be enjoying seeing him.

Santa was very conscious of "elf and safety"

There even seemed to be an "elf and safety" briefing going on

santas bollards

However someone somewhere had bollards on their mind

Jolly and pirate

Is this a pirate I see? Not quite Johnny Depp!

Each weekend before Christmas Muddy Waters and Jolly will be looking forward to seeing lots of children, and according to the "Operations Manager" they are very popular. Well done Dan Clacher and crew!
