This place is just TOO familiar

We spent the day at Caversham Boat Services as Marcus finished off the outstanding bits and pieces on Epiphany.

narrowboat

This rather lovely narrowboat passed us at CBS

We left, poorer, happy and cosy ......

Another "new" thing on the roof -

boat hook

New place for our boat hook

The solar panels are fixed to the roof but have displaced the ladder-plank and boat hook at the back, so today Marcus fitted a new ladder-plank holder at the front and a boat hook holder at the stern.

And "Yes" - we have given in and lit the Morso this afternoon. It was sunny but chilly and then when the rain descended (what a heavy shower) we thought it daft not to be warmer.

We left CBS going downstream, but turned upstream around the back of Fry's Island.

skip on wharf

The skip was on the wharf - no sign of lorry or pontoon and tug!

See yesterday's blog if you have no idea what I am writing about!

The sky was wonderful as it got darker and the sun sank lower -

Looking back to Caversham Bridge

Reading Canoe Club is on the Caversham Bank and there were a number of canoes out on the river. The club had the slalom "arms" out over the water

We were making for our rather familiar place to moor. This hire cruiser was moored just above the Canoe Club against the Prom

new mooring

Ah - the tug and pontoon were back at the boat house - this time without a skip

I presume they have learned the lesson and will unload the pontoon into the skip already "on land"!

So tomorrow we finally get away and continue upstream on the River Thames - back to cruising, we hope ......
