Henley moorings - and a recommendation

Before we leave Henley, I just want to add a few things

moorings

Moorings on the Berkshire downstream side of the Bridge

And a few photos of course .......

Walking over the bridge we saw the Royal Berks Fire and Rescue Boat returning. These small hire day boats were probably going faster than they had before!

There were so many of these "slipper launches" out. They can be beautiful and the wood on them is glorious if they are in a good condition.

This one looks rather full with the family - teach 'em young

Now, if you are visiting Henley and want a treat, or even just somewhere different to have a cuppa, cake and relax you MUST visit our favourite cafe. The Chocolate Theatre Cafe is on Thames Side, above the bridge, just down the road and opposite The Angel.

When we were last here they had just bought the premises and had plans to renovate it. The works are now complete and it is really great.

John had the best hot chocolate he has ever had (with mint), made with real Belgian Chocolate, and a lovely apple pie. I had my usual "Early Grey" and a dark choc and almond biscuit - wonderful. Chocoholics, this is the place for you!

moorings

From downstream of the bridge on Thames Side, we could just see Epiphany moored

Eventually everything quietened down, the day boats disappeared, the cruisers moored up and the rowers went home for their tea. The Phyllis Club came alive with music, but not late into the night and there were one or two night rowers out.

We would be looking for a quieter mooring for our next night - somewhere we had been before ......?
