Herons 2 Canada Geese 2 many

2 hours 37 mins, 3.82 miles, 5 locks

We had a quiet night in the Aylesbury basin and woke to sunshine but chilly temperatures! We wandered into the town again to visit M & S for some more thermals - we need to be prepared after reading the forecast for the next few days!

We winded in the basin and set off back up the Arm to shop at Tescos above the first lock (16). John did this whilst I made some muffins and also hot dogs for lunch. Once fortified we set off once again into the wintry sunshine. The sky was looking a little threatening but we hoped that the rain would hold off for a bit.

Osier Bed lock 15

We saw the two herons, both liked being photographed and one showed off his take off technique just so I could snap it!

Above lock 15 was Maris Otter - a lovely boat and the owners do not mind advertising  for it's previous owners, but they told us that don't get any free beer.

We negotiated the narrow section once again and did not meet anyone coming the other way. We wonder if BW's new bollards would be more popular if they looked like this?

The boats at Bates Yard (historic boat restoration where Hood is moored) are moored to them!

Is this a grimace?

Asleep or oblivious?

Coming up through Puttenham bottom lock (11) we decided that the sky looked very threatening and moored just above. Just in time as the heavens opened and the temperature dropped. We retreated to the warmth and glow of the fire!

So still no Aylesbury Ducks but 2 many Canada Geese!
