We are back! - An exciting day on the Thames

Yesterday we fulfilled yet another ambition - to "do" the tidal Thames from Limehouse

Limehouse Lock

In Limehouse Lock

Would it be rough or smooth, wet or dry or just too good to be true?

Well we made it onto the River! We were the only narrowboat in the lock - a dutch barge came out too and eventually passed us. Then we were on our own and John was a happy bunny!

It was a little choppy - not the best time to go below, as I found out. We were certainly rocking and rolling. I was looking forward to going under Tower Bridge - another "I must do" for us both. My sister, Lois, was in the bow also taking photos, but I bet she didn't take as many as I did - over 400!

We encountered a couple of the Thames Clippers, but the wash from them was not as bad as the deeper draughted trip boats. There were also a few RIBs who really sped by.

Here is the other "highlight". Many years ago we were privileged to visit and eat in the House of Lords' Dining Room which overlooks the river. Little did we imagine then that one day we would be passing on our "home".

Of course there is much more to our experience - and I will let you see some more photos sometime. For now, we arrived safely at Kingston on Thames, and there was plenty of room to moor.
