A photo blog of part of our trip down to Limehouse

As we have plans to go out soon my blog will be a bit different tonight.

Olympic stadium over East Cross Road Bridge

The Olympic stadium can be spotted from a way back

There is lots to see on the way down the Lee Navigations into Limehouse, but tonight I will concentrate on the soon to be famous area .......

There were 3 boats trying to clear the green weed in the Olympic area. The weed is not a good or pretty advertisement for our waterways and hopefully they will sort it out for next year.

Hertford Union Canal

We decided not to go up the Hertford Union Canal (noty that we have anything against it - we had previously walked it)

Old Ford Lock

In Old Ford Lock - the last we will do ourselves for a while, probably

Flame tower

I have now discovered more about the above tower - it will be the highest piece of public art in Britain and will be open to the public. Designed by artist Anish Kapoor, it will cost £19.1 million - not funded by the public purse, thank goodness!

Just below Bow Back River Junction we spotted Liz Skinner and her fuel boats loading up. No diesel yet, but they promised they would find us at Limehouse.

fuel boats ahead

Indus and Pictor reload

We were wondering if we would be able to moor at the Basin as we had heard that it was full of boats - some from a local boat club. We would see .......
