House of Princesses, from Mary to Diana

Here is our second Historic Royal Palace - Kensington Palace. The palace is undergoing a complete transformation, inside and out.

"The Enchanted Palace", under transformation

Despite this, it is still open and someone had a good idea to present it from a different aspect ......

The State Rooms of Kensington Palace now tell the story of seven princesses who lived in there over the years and visitors are invited to discover who they were through an innovative treatment of the rooms by "Wildworks", a Cornish Theatre company, and other collaborators.

The first Princess was in the "Room of Royal Sorrows"

The atmospheric themed rooms of "The Enchanted Palace" all had the clues to one of the Princesses. We managed to guess them all!

William Kent has painted some amazing ceilings which will still be there of course once the Palace reopens properly next Spring.

The gardens are being redone too, but the Sunken Garden which was laid out in the reign of Edward VII is beautiful.

The Palace is surrounded by Kensington Gardens and the Princess Diana Playground Memorial can be found in these grounds.

One again, we have an album of photos, if you want to see more about other residents since its construction in the early C17th.
