A quick look back .....

I promised a while ago in this blog from our cruise on the Basingstoke Canal to return to Brooklands Museum

Jag, John and Dom

My favourite car of all time

For those of you who are car, plane or motorcycle enthusiasts it is a Mecca for nostalgia ........

I can only give you a flavour of the really brilliant museum near Woking and Weybridge which we thoroughly enjoyed - not only us but also Dom, our 13 year old Great Nephew did too. So a few photos to whet your appetite.

The race track was in use from 1906-1939 and was racing home to many famous faces.

Banked racing track

The track was built in 1906 - on a swampy site with the River Wey running through it

Napier Railton

24 litre Napier-Railton, 1933 - record breaking and still racing

And planes?

There are: a whole hanger full of old and retired ones. Dom sat in a Harrier seat and was instructed in how to fly it. This plane was the best for us ...

Concorde

The Concorde Tour takes you inside, simulates a flight at Mach 1 and is really nostalgic - brilliant

There are bicycles and motor bikes too. For F1 fans, you can have a go in the Mercedes MaClaren F1 simulator

John racing

Dom's time around the track was in the top 10, but John failed to match him!

Finally, in August a London Bus Museum opened; sadly, we could only get quick snaps through the doors.

And there was much more: see our album of Brooklands
