Still no crane

The towering Burbage Bridge heralds Burbage Wharf

Now we wondered, what progress has been made on the crane at the wharf?

We were disappointed, to say the least.

No sign of any progress on the crane restoration - but wait a minute, this is new since we were last here

But hasn't the summer of 2010 come and gone? So I did what they suggested and had a look at the website. The only reference to the crane I can find there is a short piece on the blog - I quote from the January 2011 entry:

"The crane is now complete and is standing proud at Claverton you still have a chance to see it at Claverton until the early summer, we are making plans to return it to its original home on Burbage Wharf toward the end of May."

So only a year late then! Click here to see what it should look like. Maybe it will be up when we return?

After Burbage, the canal drops from the summit through three locks to Wootton Rivers - our chosen mooring and another one that we have used before.

The village at Wootton Rivers is full of timber framed thatched cottages and makes a wonderful village to photograph. We have never been into the village and when we walked to the pub for our evening meal I wished I had taken my camera,

However I took a phone photo of the pub - the C16th Royal Oak where we had the best meal yet. We gave it 9/10 and celebrated our last night with Angela and Chris.

The church here has  a clock with three faces - one rather unusual - no numbers, just letters spelling out "BE TO GOD GLORY".

The morning should see the final short trip with Angela and Chris to Pewsey ......
