Early Morning Antics

You have to be up bright and early to catch the Oxford University rowing teams practising! We were yesterday - and saw the sun rise over the water, absolutely  beautiful!

The sun rises over the river at Christchurch Meadow

John was the photographer as I was hardly compos mentis! The above and following are just a small selection of his work.

Duck in the mist  Cows grazing in Christchurch Meadow

The ducks were feeding and so were the cows smiley

By 6.45 the rowers were on their way to the boathouses. Boys and girls!

There was a fair bit of mist on the river and the bridge over the Cherwell mouth was ghostly over the water

Ten minutes or so later they were out on the river with coaches on bikes using megaphones to encourage and cajole. I suspect I would have been awake by now anyway, as the coaches went right by us on the towpath!

Eton Phoenix  Jack and Joy David eight

Eton Phoenix Eight and Jack and Joy David Eight were out and Narrowboat Chavori left his mooring in front of us, backwards.

The the Lady Scholar Eight caught up and the Lin Gos moved over!

So tomorrow, after a good couple of days, we say a fond farewell to Christchurch Meadow, rowers, Folly Bridge et al and move on upstream. We will be back here again - but not for a while!
