Art Deco?

Some of the college boathouses are very attractive, others look rather more utilitarian. They are all downstream of Folly Bridge and Christchurch Meadow on an island formed by the end of the Cherwell River, the Gut and the Thames or Isis as it is called as it wends its way through the Oxford outskirts. Once, the college barges, also acting as club rooms, were moored here too.

Here are a few of my favourite boathouses, I think I have identified them correctly. If you know better, please let me know. The "daddy" of them all has to be Christchurch Boathouse.

University College Boathouse burnt down in September 1999 and has been replaced by an ultra modern one.

Balliol and New College Boathouse is an example of what I call "utilitarian"

Corpus Christi and St John's have an art deco feel to them.

These five are of a modern design - if you click on the photo you will see I have labelled them.
