All paths lead to .....

At weekends and Bank Holidays anyway

Tea room signOpens 7 days a week from March!

Great excitement yesterday - I took my first steps along the towpath for many a day! The dog walkers went the long way around through the woods and I meandered up the towpath. It was bacon butties for the humans and dog biscuits for the dogs once we reached the tea room by Thrupp Bridge. Wonderful!

Of course there was still ice on the canal but the igloo has all but disappeared. There was news of Dusty's imminent arrival so the ice may be broken up a bit by today!

icey canaligloo remains

Beyond the lift bridge the ice has been broken and then iced over again - it will be very thick and hard to break as a result. You can see the ice floes under the ice under the ducks!

Getting into the sani station wharf will take some doing - it is still under repair too. BW contractors have not been seen for days and their temporary office/rest room and exclusive loo cabin has been locked fast. The rubbish is piled high as the rubbish wagon cannot turn to collect the rubbish due to the temporary "office". Happy days for the local rats!

The ducks amuse me as as soon as people have moved from the lift bridge they desert the Wide and go down the canal again to see if any narrowboats have duck lovers on who will take pity on them with a scrap of bread!
