Reading, River and Reports

A bitty day! John rang the EA flood line again this morning - a different number and on this one you get to talk not just listen.

Still much the same but the outlook is good; maybe we will move at the weekend! We need to as, our "necessaries" are needing attention! We also need to fill up with Adam's Ale too. This is amazing stuff as one can wash in it, shower in it, wash clothes, dishes and the boat. However the most important thing to remember is that our bodies are predisposed to require it to exist! The daft thing is it is widely available and yet we still insist on buying it in bottles and pretend that then it is even better for us. The men from mars must think we are a stupid lot!

I fussticated about the boat this morning - washed the bird's presents off it. This is the down-side to being moored under trees. The up-side is the conkers that fall on and by the boat, collected for the fire as apparently they make good kindling.

With our repainted rails, a clean starboard side and a coat of black on the gunnels, Epiphany looks smart from the right side!

In the afternoon we walked to Caversham lock, had a quick chat with the lock keeper and watched a "noddy" boat go through without too much trouble, despite the red boards.

A walk back via the tow path again to suss out the services - diesel, water and sany station - for when we get going. 85 pence for 100L at Caversham Boat Services: not too bad.

We finished a pleasant day with drinks and card games on nb Faith with Lou and Graeme. We will miss them when we leave - hopefully Friday.

Let's see what tomorrow brings forth!
