"Walkies" with dogs and owners

But not me!

Having been laid low with an 'orrible cold, I was not very good company on Christmas Day. Thankfully I am feeling more human now. Thankfully too we have some very good friends.

E in sun and snowAnother Christmas card?

My gratitude to those who understood that our Christmas celebrations with them had to be cancelled and those who took John "walkies" on Christmas morning in the sun and snow. Look what I missed!

5 shadows in snowHow can one person cast five shadows?

My suggestion that John took the camera with him paid off as, for the first time, we have photos of snow and blue sky - what a glorious Christmas morn.

trees and shadowsMore shadows, but unless this was Lord of the Rings they were not moving!

John also discovered that it is very hard to catch dogs standing still long enough to take a photo of them - he missed Molly but managed to capture Boots for posterity.

Boots

Boots alert, not asleep; I gather he had to stop for a rest every so often! (see narrowboat Bones)

Now I know which of these I would rather be in - the Jolly Boatman! The food, atmosphere and friendliness of the staff all add up to an excellent place to go. Have a look at the new website The table beside the fire in the Barn is to be recommended in this cold weather; we have sat there for two fabulous meals! (The sofas by the bar are to be recommended too. ed.) More photos can be seen on Maffi's blog.
