There's snow business like ....

Snow business, but not much of that here

Compared to the south east and other parts we only had a sprinkling last night. The night time temperature was also warmer, barely below zero. We managed to fill up with water from a nearby tap; rubbish and elsan is a very short car journey away, so John was able to do that with a car borrowed from a really generous friend.

The ice creaks around narrowboat Epiphany, but no photos of the lack of snow! However our exhausting day yesterday produced some of Oxford.

A rather bare "Carnival of Animals" in the wonderful Natural History Museum (adjoining Pitt Rivers Museum) and some rather wonderful fluorescent crystals

The architecture of this museum is lovely and the internal skeletal structure reflects the collection of skeletons inside.

St Mary the Virgin Church, also known as the University Church has an amazing history. In medieval times, scholars lived in houses with their tutors and the university had no buildings of its own. By the 13th century, the church had been adopted as the seat of the university government, academic disputation and the awarding of degrees.

The Oxford Martyrs, Latimer, Ridley and Cranmer were tried in the chancel of the church.

Other famous "visitors" include John Wesley and John Henry Newman. Newman preached from this pulpit, which replaced the one that Wesley preached from. More church facts here - clickety click

I love Oxford and each time we return we see more that we have not seen before and enjoy peeking in through closed gates.
