A collection of pubs

Thrupp has a few

Which means that narrowboaters have a choice!

There is The Boat Inn beside the cottages in Thrupp and handy for the moorings there.

Then there is the Jolly Boatman (bridge 223) with moorings outside for those who want to stagger back across the towpath! There are warnings of some really cold weather this weekend, but hopefully no repeat of this ice in January 2009.

Further down is The Highwayman, once the Wise Alderman, near bridge 224 and a bit of a walk and across the main Banbury Road, but still beside the canal.

Normally we do not go from "pub to pub", as liveaboards that could get expensive, however, when moored near so many friends it becomes a popular pastime! So which have we patronised? We spent a good evening in the Highwayman listening to the folk music and enjoying the company of boating friends - Bones, Maffi, Brian, Diana, Dave, Kate, Mark and Sarah. Mention one and I must mention all!

John and Maffi had a "jar" in the Jolly Boatman last night. In the past we have been in The Boat, but have not been this time. It looks as if we shall be stopping here for a few more days so there will be plenty of scope for more imbibing!
